{Personality;;}
Isabel is a girl filled with contradictions. She looks ten, but in reality is 317 years old. On the inside, she is a little girl, with appetites no little girl should have to endure.
{History;;}
Isabel was born on July 7, 1548. Her mother was a quiet thing, scarcely more than a girl herself, who had married a gentle widower, who already had a son. The woman was frail, and she never fully recovered from labor, She died of Influenza when Isabel was three. This left her with a loving father, and an adoring older brother. Six months after her mother's death, her father was killed in a border raid, while he was traveling on business. It was now up to seventeen year old Daniel to raise his little sister. The two were very close while Isabel was growing up. Daniel was always there for her, and called her his little princess. However, tragedy would again strike the tiny family, an unavoidable grief that would forever change their lives.
On September 9, 1558, Isabel was in the forestry on the borders of their farm, gather roots and other herbs to supplement the evening meal, when a crashing sound reached her ears. She looked up to see an old wise-woman being chased by a group of men. Frightened, she tried to scramble away, recognizing the men as English soldiers, on soil that wasn't theirs. In her efforts, one of the men inadvertantly caught her with an arrow to her side. She screamed, and went down face-first. The old wise-woman screamed, turning on the soldiers. Isabel couldn't see what they were doing, but she knew someone was dying. Minutes later, a hard hand came down on her shoulder, and rolled her over. It was the old wise-woman. Looking over Isabel, she shook her head. Isabel's vision went black, but the last thing she heard was her brother's voice.
A few hours later, Isabel woke up, and everything felt different. Her side no longer hurt, but her wrist was sore. Looking down, she saw two tiny prick marks in her wrist. Daniel was there, stroking her hair. He told her, then, that he had arrived, and begged the wise-woman to bring her back. The woman told him that the only way to do so, would be to turn her into a vampire like herself. Desperate to save her, Daniel had agreed. Isabel would now never age, and never die- unless by outside forces. At first this wasn't an issue. The woman explained that instead of human blood, Isabel could drink that of animals. At first it was handy, to hunt down a deer, and let his sister latch onto the thing's throat, and let her bleed it dry, but it became tedious. That's when he began to bleed the animal, and give her the blood to drink from cups.
For many years, this went on. Daniel met a woman, fell in love, and married her. However, he couldn't risk her knowing Isabel's secret, and moved his sister into a house in the middle of the forest. Isabel felt abandoned, and often cried herself to sleep, wishing her brother would just let her die. Her instincts told her that all she had to do was bite him, and he would be hers forever, and hers alone. However, Isabel fought all of her vampiric instincts with a ferocity few others could have matched. Instead, she watched her brother raise a family, and loved her nieces and nephews from afar. The day that he died, an old man in his bed, Isabel wept bitterly. She couldn't be there when he died, because his wife didn't even know of her existance.
After his death, she left the little forest cove she had been living in, wandering all over the Scottish countryside. By this point, she was around sixty years old, and tired of life. Her childishness was gone, and she wanted desperately someone to keep her from being lonely. The ten years that followed were the years she calls 'Black Bella'. In those years, deprived of relationships, she caved in to her vampiric nature. Even still, she refused to feed from people. However, she walked the streets in the dead of night, not caring who she scared, or who knew that she was a vampire. In those years, she was hunted like an animal, and acted very much like one.
That changed, one night in 1608. She was hiding in a forest in northern England, attempting to escape from the hunters who were chasing her. A young man in his eary twenties found her, curled under a tree, half-burrowed into it's roots. She was hiding from the hunters who were looking for 'Black Bella' as she was now often called. The man looked at a half-conscious child, and picked her up, carrying her to his apothecary. There Isabel lived with him for a long time, regaining her humanity, and her identity. She insisted that Mark call her Isabel, though one day she broke down and confessed that she was the creature Black Bella that they were looking for. Mark promised that he didn't care, and the two of them lived happily together for several years.
And then the night came when the hunters came looking for her. Isabel tried to resist peacefully, but then one of the men holding Mark threatened his life, if she didn't come with them peacefully. That was the night that Isabel learned she had two sides to herself. Isabel, and Black Bella. Black Bella exploded from Isabel's psyche, enraged that the only person to have ever cared about her was in danger. She brutally killed each man in that room, even those that tried to run. She did not feed, though she was sorely tempted, as Isabel was slowly returning to her conscience. The little girl lay curled in the middle of the carnage, staring at Mark who was staring back in horror. She tried to explain that it wasn't her, that she would never do anything like this, but he wouldn't believe her.
He cast her out.
She spent the next hundred years or so bouncing between orphanages, and the streets. There, she met all sorts of people, and learned much about survival. She lived on rats and stray animals, still refusing to consume human blood. Black Bella only showed herself once ore twice, and both times Isabel kept her from killing anyone. She can't claim to have been happy for those years, but she learned much, and tried to avoid men the ages of Mark or her brother, now both long dead. It broke her heart, because all she wanted was for someone to love her. She thought that she'd found it one night in the early 1700's. His name was Alexander, and he was a doctor. He found her, shivering in an alleyway, half-dead because she couldn't find any animals. Her fangs were so long, there was no denying what she was. He took her home, briskly rolled up his sleeve, cut his arm, and put his blood in a glass. For her.
It took him awhile to nurse her back to health, and once he had, she returned to hunting animals, telling him that human blood was just too rich for her. She lived in the doctor's house, assisting him with whatever needed to be done. The smell of human blood had little affect on Isabel, nor was she squeamish. A perfectly accomplished assistant. This arrangement went on for a long time, with the family moving quite a bit, Alexander introducing Isabel as his daughter from the north (to explain her Scottish accent that she never quite lost). One day, however, Alexander was kicked by a horse. He was bleeding internally, and dying. He held Isabel while she cried, whispering that he loved her, and would miss her. She shook her head, and promised that he would live.
And so she bit him.
Isabel had never bitten anyone before, and it was an odd sensation. Once she had, she didn't drink his blood, she simply waited. When night fell, he woke up. Unlike young Isabel, who had been too young to be caught up in lust, the bloodlust took Alexander hard. Black Bella had to emerge, managing to restrain him only from age and experience. She dragged him from the city that they were in, teaching him to hunt and feed on animals. Once he was sand enough to talk, Alexander pushed her away. His bloodlust was, he said, too much. Even when sated, he craved more, and he feared that it would endanger her, exposing her to Slayers. He left, promising to return to her when he was able to control himself. He kissed her on the forehead, told her that he loved her and didn't blame her. Then he stumbled away.
It's been such a long time since, and Isabel hasn't heard from Alexander. She still claims that her father is coming for her, though for all she knows, he is long-dead. She remains faithful, as she looks for another companion, someone to keep the loneliness at bay while she awaits his return.
