Little Miss Mina

{Gender;;} Female
{Age::} 25
{Height;;} 5'3"
{Status;;} Slayer
{Occupation;;} Seamstress and Store Owner
{Appearance;;} Mina is rather small in stature, that would be the first thing that one would notice. Standing at a measly five-foot-three, she sometimes even reads as being weak, a common misconception. Her figure is not one that many would consider womanly; her considerable lack of curves gives her an almost boyish figure. It's something that she tries not to let bother her-- after all, as a vampire hunter, there are things more important than pride and vanity; still, as a fashion designer, Mina has a yearning to look good and be noticed.
Her figure may be boyish, but she has a face that most certainly belongs to a woman. Her face is heart-shaped, with smooth, unflawed, and pale skin. She has pretty almond-shaped brown eyes, almost always surrounded by make-up, and long, curled eyelashes. A long, straight nose leads down her face to a pair of thin, pale pink lips. While Mina has a lovely little mouth, she's self-consious of her slightly crooked smile.
Mina's favorite part of her appearance, of course, is her hair. Her face is framed by long, curly golden locks, usually tied out of her face in some way. Her bands, however, are straightened, and fall messily over her forehead.
{Personality;;} The most important thing to Mina is her career, both as a seamstress, and as a vampire slayer. Whatever job she's doing, she always tries her best to meet the challenge, and is extremely serious about her work. There are times that this seriousness may even read as being cold or grumpy, but the truth is that she loves her career and wouldn't trade it for anything.
Though Mina can be very serious, she has an extremely fun and silly side. When she's around people she knows well, she gives up her professional personality and can be very friendly and fun to be around. She loves to be around people, and especially likes inviting friends over to talk. By nature, she's a very social creature, and cannot survive without friends to talk to.
When Mina is alone and not working, she can usually be found gardening. She likes quiet activities; her least favorite things to do would be anything too loud or hectic, including most things athletic, or anything that would require her to interact with loud crowds of people. However, while she likes her alone time, Mina would much rather be with her friends.
Most of Mina's friends are female... the woman's attitude about boys is rather confusing, even to herself. She likes boys a lot, likes flirting with them and sometimes even kissing them. But Mina isn't the type who thinks much about marriage or serious boyfriends. She doesn't like the thought of commitment, or giving up her independance or her freedom for the sake of a male. Perhaps if she gave it more thought, she would like the thought of marriage someday, but for now, she's not interested.
{History;;} Several years ago. Mr. Li Jiang, a young merchant, left his homeland of China in the hopes of doing business in the country of Britain. It was a long, hard journey, and it was a struggle to set up a shop in a foreign country to which he had never been, but finally, he was able. And the first day that his shop was open, early in the morning, Miss Charlotte Love Buswell stepped through the door, a beauty with long strawberry-blond hair and large green-grey eyes. And immediately, Li fell for her.
It wasn't long before Charlotte allowed Li to woo her-- she was a peasant girl, after all, and Li was a rather wealthy young shopkeeper, so perhaps, she thought, this arrangement would be for the best. And finally, within a few months' time, the two of them were wed. Not long after, Charlotte was blessed with a pregnancy, and ended up giving birth to a healthy little boy. There was only one more pregnancy several years later, and this was when she gave birth to her youngest child and only daughter, Mina Lin Jiang.
From the beginning, Mina was an especially quiet but intelligent and sweet child. While her older brother, Adair, went to a public school, Mina stayed home with her mother, learning the tasks that a woman was expected to know-- to cook, to sew, to do needlework. The girl became a natural with a needle and thread in no time, and learned to begin enjoying those times when her father or brother would have a tear in their clothes and she was invited to repair it.
Mina was twelve years old when her brother was abducted by a vampire. She remembers the entire situation in great detail: she had been finishing undressing and climbing into bed when she heard a scream from her nineteen-year-old brother's room. She hurried to go see what was the matter, thinking that perhaps he had been playing a joke on her. But immediately, she knew that this wasn't the case when she opened the door. The vampire had an alarming appearence, with pale, almost translucent skin, and long, silky ebony hair. The man's mouth had been dripping with blood, she noticed, and then she caught sight of it-- Adair's limp, unconsious body, held tight against the vampires. Mina screamed, fainted, and when her parents woke her up, both Adair and the vampire were gone, leaving nothing to imply that they had ever been there in the first place.
"It was just a dream." That was the simple explanation that both Li and Charlotte offered to their troubled little daughter, but in their minds, they knew that Mina's story, no matter how incredible it was, must have had some sort of truth to it. After all, Adair was missing, and he wasn't the type of boy to simply disappear on his own. And they knew as well that Mina wasn't the kind who would make up such a serious story. Still, they had no way to explain to Mina what she had seen, and so they simply maintained that she had seen nothing at all.
Somehow, Mina knew that this wasn't the case. She had seen the vampire's gruesome face, the dead, pale flesh, and Adair's body, with two pinprick wounds in his neck. And she was determined to prove to her parents that her brother's abduction wasn't a dream. As the girl reached adolescence, traveling into her teenage years, she found herself spending more and more time at the library, researching what she could on the incident. And as similar experiences began showing up in the newspapers, and as the other people in the city began to gossip amongst themselves about these strange occurances, she became more and more certain of what she had to do. For the sake of Adair, she would try to figure out exactly what was going on.
