[Lou]
{Gender;;} Male.
{Age::} 19.
{Height;;} 5”11.
{Status;;} Mortal.
{Occupation;;} He sells apples on his Uncle's market stall.
{Appearance;;}
Louis isn’t exactly the most muscular of males, but nor is he puny looking. Because of the job he has to do, hauling the occasional crate of apples or running an errand every now and then for his uncle, Louis finds that his body is kept relatively fit. Therefore, he has quite a toned figure, his muscles used to working hard though not to an extent where they are extremely defined against his flesh, just vaguely. Louis stands at around 5”11, much taller than most in his family who range from about 5”7 to 5”9. His height doesn’t make the male seem lanky though. If anything, he seems well-proportioned, his frame nice and slender. This can, sometimes, give his body a slight feminine look as his shoulders aren’t as broad as some other male’s, his facial features can also give him androgynous qualities.
Louis’ eye colour ranges from a pale blue to a very vivid green, depending on the amount of light. Usually, his pupils have a blue-grey-green tone to them, the colours merging to give a very nice, multi-tonal look to them. His eyes are lined with thick, black eyelashes, giving almost the appearance of eyeliner at times though he doesn’t use any type of feminine products on himself. His lips are naturally very pale, a very dusty light pink, but they do not look unhealthy. His face is just a tad bit angular, giving this boy's manly side quite a thrust forward.
Master Matthew’s hair is a very, very dark brown, a colour usually mistaken to be black. It is usually styled to one side, the longer hairs taken to lean more to the right whilst others that can’t reach over rest down on the left. There are several layers cut into his hair, though only into the fringe. The back is generally cut short and usually more messy than the front. However, his hair is usually covered by some form of hat as he finds it much easier to hide it away then try and make himself look fully presentable to those around him.
The male’s attire usually consists of a beige waistcoat, three or four patches sewn onto the lower back of the material; a white, long-sleeved, button-down shirt; and a pair of three quarter length trousers, the same colour and material as his waistcoat. His clothes are usually the same, as he doesn’t have all too many changes. However, in winter months, he does wear a thick, black coat, one that hangs loosely from his frame. It was previously owned by his father, a much larger man than Louis. He also is frequently seen wearing a small, grey cap - much like this one: clicky.
{Personality;;}
Louis is a generally nice, young lad. Nearing his twenties, Louis holds a great responsibility in his family - he helps his uncle to bring the money in. To do this, he has to have a friendly aspect to his personality, one that he easily manages to hold through out the day. He’s the sort of man that will happily stop and help someone if he thinks they are having a spot of bother with something, or just simply stop to say hello. He can be rather conversational, which can help bring customers to his uncle’s stall, as well as allowing him to make easy friends with people several or more years older than him. This friendly side to him is what most people grow to know and love. He’s not the sort to try and take advantage of one’s situation, though he does try on occasions to work things more to his advantage.
He can, on occasions, be slightly egotistical of himself, oozing a sort of confidence in his words when speaking to either someone new or a familiar figure. This can give him a persuasive tone, allowing him to have the ability to manipulate one’s opinion. Charismatic can be one way to describe Lou, one of the few personality traits that he uses frequently when helping out on his uncle’s stall. Obviously, this isn’t something that he uses in all aspects of his life. In fact, Louis can be rather nervous and shy around certain types of people, revealing this rather contradictive side to him.
Around certain people, Lou can act rather intimidated, becoming a more submissive character rather than his usually dominant persona. This is usually around people that show a higher level of confidence than himself. Louis holds a sort-of admiration for these people because they hold such high thoughts of themselves and have the ability to hold themselves together in all sorts of situations. It’s something that Louis marvels at and thinks makes even the most feeblest of people one of the strongest. The ability to keep a strong exterior is one that he has tried to develop over the years, often shying away his weaker emotions in hope of acquiring this outer strength that others, like his uncle, seem to pull off so well.
Though it doesn’t happen very often, Louis can have a rather fearsome temper, one that wouldn’t be expected of the calm, carefree teenager that happily sells food from his uncle’s stall in the pouring rain. It’s most definitely not something that happens easily, and it’s one of the emotions that Lou bottles up. He can let mild insults slide, along with a few snide remarks, but after a while, if these insults pursue for long enough, he can snap. Of course, his reactions vary like most people. He can act verbally or physically aggressive, dependant on his mental state at the time. But, this isn’t something that is usually considered a problem.
On a lighter note, we haven’t mentioned the young male’s flirtatious tendencies. If greeted with an attractive female, it’s only natural for there to be some sort of exchange in flirtatious glances or comments, though nothing usually comes of this. Though Louis is considered to be a very attractive man, he isn’t one that’s extremely experienced when it comes to ‘tales of the heart’, so to speak. He doesn’t shy away from girls, no. But he isn’t entirely knowledgeable about how to make a girl like him, or how to tell if a girl already likes him. His uncle isn’t really much use when it comes to this as his motto is ‘what will happen, will happen’. In other words, he prefers to avoid the heart-to-heart chats about life and how to develop. No matter, Louis is becoming more and more understanding the older he gets, slowly recognising those small signs all around him.
{History;;}
Louis’ life is hardly one that can be considered either bad or good. It has had its fair share of horrors but also its fair share of joyous occasions. It was the morning of July 25th 1837 that Louis Arthur Matthews was brought into the world and it was, mere hours later on that same morning, that the young child’s mother departed. The energy she used to have her precious baby boy was too great and, for giving him the gift of life, she lost her own. It was a horrible time for the family, though it had been expected to happen since the young women fell pregnant. She wasn’t the strongest of people, emotionally and physically, and it was a shock that she even made it to child birth. However, young Louis was born strong and healthy, much more-so than his family had expected.
Lou was born into a rather small family consisting originally of just his father, until news was spread about Elizabeth’s (Louis’ mother’s) death. It was at this point, when the boy was barely two days old, that he and his father moved in to live with his uncle and his wife, with their two teenage daughters and one son just a few years older than Lou. They all lived together in a small house on the outskirts of London, the men of the house earning just enough for the family to get by. Of course, it was difficult on some days to get enough to put enough food on the table, but they managed to keep themselves healthy and happy. Though the children had few toys to play with, they always managed to entertain themselves, usually messing about with the children that lived next door.
Louis grew up living a relatively happy life. He saw his cousins as siblings, his aunt as his mother, and his uncle almost like another father. They were all exceptionally close, looking out for each other and making sure that none of them were having problems with any of the aspects in their lives. Lou, though the youngest of the family, provided a lot of strength and humour in some of the worst financial times, his boyish actions keeping the family hopeful and happy as they struggled on.
When Louis was thirteen, the family came into some money and found that they were able to move to a much nicer house further into the city of London itself. It meant that the family would be much closer to Louis’ uncle’s and father’s stall, making it easier for everyone, especially his father, who had recently started to slow down, his energy levels slowly decreasing the further they progressed into a week. He seemed to have contracted an illness that caused his energy to deplete much faster than it usually would, taking away his appetite and, eventually, leaving him bed-bound. It was at this point that Louis started to work for his uncle, mainly selling apples to the ladies and gentlemen who walked by. Occasionally, he would wander around the streets of London, a boyish grin upon his lips as he carried small boxes of apples around in hope of interesting someone in a bunch of them, usually succeeding in this.
However, things started to change as news spread around London like wild fire about this virus. The virus that had people terrified of leaving their houses too late at night when the streets were darkened and people were few. It was around then that Louis was asked to keep near to the stall, even though he was now a young man of nineteen. Though none of the family have been infected, they are all much more cautious around each other, checking that none of them have any symptoms upon entering the house. It’s become a daily routine now, though uncertainties still run high. Though none of them are entirely sure what this virus is, they are truly fearful of it. However, Louis is perhaps the least cautious of them all and still wanders about on his own when given the opportunity, unaware of the real danger that he could run into at any moment.
{Fears;;}
-This ‘virus’ infecting someone in his family.
-His father’s condition getting to the point where he just can’t live any more.
-Large rats.
-Being out on his own in the pitch black.
-Heights. He likes to keep his feet firmly on the ground and prefers not to be more than two feet taller than nature intended.
{Skills and talents;;}
-Selling things. He can be rather persuasive and finds it easy to exaggerate an item’s qualities.
-Running in crowds. He’s rather agile and can dodge past people with ease when the time calls for it.
-Giving a sense of control. He can act like he knows what he’s doing in certain situations to either ease someone else’s anxieties or his own rather well, though his nerves can sometimes shine through.
-Eating apples. Louis prides himself on being able to eat a whole apple, including the core. It’s something that he considers to be a talent of his.
-Speaking in front of large crowds. Louis can speak to a large body of people without batting an eyelash. It’s something that comes naturally to him and he doesn’t see why others get so nervous when speaking to a crowd of people.
