Connell listened to the tale, a smile playing on his lips as he caught her blush while still listening to the story. Parts of it seemed almost familiar to him. Maybe his mother had told him of the tale. He nodded at what she thought. That was the problem with the people in London at this time. They trained men to kill his kind, but they knew not want the vampires actually thought. It wasn't there fault they had to drink blood, it was merely the way they had to live after they had been infected.
" If only more people were like you. If only people cared what happened to us ," He said, a slight sigh escaping his throat. Maybe it was because of people like Ceridwen he wasn't in the abbey mews. So few a people had ever showed any kindness to him, not even the man who had taken part in bringing him to this world.

She laughed, and for once a slight self-hating note was included. "Never mind me." She said, shaking her head as she placed the basket on the floor. "No one's as innocent as they seem." She sighed, rolling her eyes. "And that story is what it is. A story." She got to her feet and knelt at the foot of the bench, carefully picking at the snowdrops that were growing from the grass. She'd learnt her lesson when it came to boys. Rhys had been enough to remind her it never lasted long, before you were forced to move on. As always. Ever torn away by work.

" So what about your story? Whats happened to lead you here?" He asked, smiling slightly at her before helping to collect some more snowdrops. He sighed, mind still flooding over him. Of what he had done with the rest of the group of vampires. He looked at the small amount of flowers he collected, his mind once again returning to the moment. He slowly placed the flowers into the basket before returning to the flowers. He was just glad it was still pretty late. The moon was still high, humans would be sleeping, vampires would be creeping. Everything was how he knew it.

She bit her lip, thinking for a moment. "Pretty boring really, compared to all the thrilling tales of being bitten and turning into a vampire..." She said, laughing nervously. "I was born on Christmas Day in the valleys... My father wanted to call me Holly, as it was Christmas, but my mother was adamant I'd have a good Welsh girl's name. So she called me Ceridwen. I went to school, and when I was nine I left home to work for the mayor of Glamorgan..."
She lost concentration for a moment, her eyes lingering on the snowdrop in her fingers, a softened expression on her face.

" I wouldn't really call it thrilling ," Connell muttered, closing his eyes and thinking back to that day. The quick footsteps as he ran through the graveyard, not wanting to be called a coward. He had wanted so badly just to turn and run out of it the way he had came, almost knowing something would happen but he kept going. That was when they had appeared, just savagely attacking him. He then felt those two, sharp fangs against his throat, the feeling of losing conscience before they drank his blood.
He shuddered, shaking his head, clearing the image from his mind. He slowly carried on picking the snowdrops. He glanced across, noticing her expression, he himself smiling. At least all that was behind him now, every thing that happened to him.

Her senses returned, and for a moment she felt as if her thoughts were exposed, as though she had spoken them aloud, and she blushed. "Sorry. I lost my train of thought..." She said, a nervous laugh following her like a haunting ghost. "I worked there until I was eleven. Just cleaning, looking after people... And then I met this man who took me to Cardiff, and I learnt to be a nurse. It wasn't long ago that I moved here." She murmured, looking up at the moon. "And I started working with doctor James Lancet... Before he was bitten. And I've looked after him since. And his patients."

" Seems like you've had a pretty interesting life so far. You've seen so many people when you were working, right?" Connell asked, placing another batch of flowers into the basket. He reached for his cloak, a sudden cold breeze reaching him. He glanced up at the moon, a shallow sigh escaping his throat again. He couldn't help but wonder why she was collecting the flowers, but he wouldn't ask, he was just liking having some company again.

She shrugged. "Just the family. Mayor ond Mayoress of Glamorgan, their five daughters and their son... who was my age. So I wasn't alone." She said, smiling slightly. "But I couldn't have stayed there forever. No matter how happy I was. It was child's work." She said, more to herself than to Connell.

Connell caught her smile, slowly stopping picking the flowers and resting against the bench. He glanced toward the moon again, deciding to tell her about his past because she did. " I was born some time in February, I believe it was the fifth. My father was an abusive man, always beating me for the tiniest of mistakes. He was an English man, my other my Irish half. She was the only thing keeping me sane during that time. That was until I turned thirteen..." He started, stopping when it came to the part of his mothers death.
" My mother started to get sick, high temperatures and vomiting alot. The doctor wasn't sure what it was. She died around a week after that, I was completely broken. After that my father forced me to move here, away from my old life. It turns out my Father worked for the government section consulting with the very earliest signs of the vampires. When I turned fifteen I started to hear more and more tales of the vampires. Me and my friends always took turns to go through the graveyard near my home. We were never sure why, but we did it ," He carried on, waiting to see if she wanted to respond before he carried on with his past.

"Go on..." She said, nodding. Her blonde strand of hair came loose from behind her ear again. She continued to listen, her head tilted to one side slightly, attentive.

" One time I stayed out late, I used the graveyard route. I knew it was longer but none of my friends had ever been through it at night. I got to the other side without a problem, but then I walked straight into a man and I knew something was wrong. Another few figures came around when I tried to back up. That was when one of them attacked, and I think I got caught in a fight over me. I blacked out just as I felt a pair of fangs on my throat ," He continued, trying to forget the night but he wanted to get it off his chest. He took another deep breath.
" The next day I woke up when the sun was just beginning, pain burning over me. I ran to the nearest building, managing to find it was the town center. I hid there for a few hours, finally hearing footsteps approaching. I pushed myself closer into the corner, only to have the person turn to run when he saw me. Then I heard a familiar voice. It was the same guy who I had run into before blacking out. The mortal had began to run, only to be attacked by the other vampire. I had tried to run myself, only to collapse. I heard the guy approaching, thinking he was going to try and get more blood, but he helped me to my feet ," Connell continued, remembering the day as clear as crystal. He glanced at Cerith, noticing the strand of blond hair falling from her hat again.
" They taught me everything I needed to learn to stay alive. I traveled with them, only to find out we were being tracked. My father was leading the hunt for me and the leader. Most of the group was killed within the first few day, only me and a few others surviving the week. They lost our trail after that, but I thought I was the one my father was looking for. I decided to leave the rest of the group, heading gout and trying to survive on my own, but I didn't feed. I didn't want to kill someone after I fed. Thats when I came here, hoping to stay here for a while til I had to return to where I stay ," Connell finished, pulling the cloak around him further. He shook his head, finally finishing what had happened to him.

Ceridwen paused for a moment, her eyes unfocused and thoughtful. "They will never find you here." she said confidently, a single nod to her head. "Not with the protection we have. Stay north of the river." She shuddered again, running her hand along her forearm somewhat subconsciously as she stared ahead.

" I will ," Connell muttered slowly, his own eyes sticking to the floor, just noticing her shudder. He let out a low sigh, his own body shivering slightly. ( Gah, brain dead to the max...)

She watched him for a moment, the moonlight angled just so it shone through her irises, shades of blue and sea grey shimmering like diamonds around a great black iris, framed by pale lashes untouched by darkening fluids or enhancing make up. She was not a fanciful girl, she had a job to do that did not require artificial beauty.
"It's a cold night." She breathed, her own voice rising on the chilled air as a soft cloud, pouring into the sky around her. "Are you not chilled?" she queried, dropping the basket of snowdrops from her knees onto the floor beside the old stone bench. The haunting courtyard walls seemed to loom across the grass, their columned shadows licking towards them.

" My cloak has been enough to keep of the chill for any a night ," Connell said, his cloak having been put back on as he was re calling his past, smiling at Ceridwen, his own blue eyes catching the light. He looked around, almost feeling like he was trapped between those four crumbling walls, but he knew that he could leave whenever he wanted.
